Monday, July 16, 2007 My Ever-so-dearest Papa & Mummy's Visit To Australia They brought bag-full of goodies, chinese herbs, biccies, candies and even a 5 litre Thermo cooking Pot to Australia for us. Mummy cooked while Jun and I assisted in the Kitchen. A few things I cooked for her and cooked together with her too. The Picture Saga Begins... My Papa & Mummy. Still in Love after 24 years of Marriage. My Role Models. ![]() My Father's First Bottle of Vino in Australia this time round... ![]() The Great 10 day Cook-off Begins... ![]() For the First Night, It was just a light & simple dinner...(Andrew and I were both sick) The Mummy Cooked: Asian style Clear Chicken & Vegetable Soup Chinese Cabbage & Shitake Mushroom In Oyster Sauce & Garlic. Roasted Desiree Potatoes Grilled Pork Fillets With Asian Sauces, Herbs & Spices Served with Brown Rice ![]() Lunch the next day... The Mummy Cooked: "Poh-fun" (Claypot Rice)- Topped with "chang-ju-la" (Crispy fried onion) (Contains: Chicken, Carrots, Leek...etc) ![]() Dinner the next night... The Mummy Cooked: Fried Carrot Cake /w Sambal chilli (Mum cooked it from scratch. Steaming her own carrot cake made with shredded pumpkin - instead of the usual yam. Fried Garlic & Rice Flour. Cut it up and fried it the way we love it. Black & Spicy) ![]() Lunch the next day... The Mummy Cooked: Spicy Char Kuay Teow! ![]() Dinner that night... The Mummy Cooked: Stir-fry Bok Choy /w Lap cheong Sweet & Sour Prawns ![]() ![]() Yet another night's dinner... The Mummy Cooked: Chicken Curry (Typical Singaporean/Malaysian Style) Mushroom & Chicken Stir-Fry with Shredded Chilli, Onion & Garlic in Mushroom Sauce. ![]() ![]() That Same Night...Andrew had a craving so after work he bought... Take Out: New York Slice Pizzeria Traditional New York Style Pizza Pies... Half-and-Half Pizza (Hawaiian & Meat Lovers) The Box ![]() Their Pizza is Gigantic! ![]() Look at just ONE slice on a normal dining plate... ![]() Okay..if you still don't believe how big it is... Here's one of my mum holding the pizza box ![]() Although they are a little pricey...Their Pizza IS THE BEST! Our all time fave. So GUESS WHAT WAS FOR LUNCH THE NEXT DAY.... ![]() The Mummy Cooked: Homemade Chicken Rice And Our Very Own Grilled Chicken (YUM!) Have You Guessed it Right? The Chicken. (We don't have a good enough knife here so we couldn't chop it like "chicken rice store style", which my mummy often do back home.. so we cut into peices instead) ![]() The Whole She-bang... ![]() AFTER... ![]() Jun wiped clean ALL the rice... She had 3 servings. (My mum is such a great cook!) ![]() This is totally Random... But Our New Piano (that my parents bought) arrived after chicken rice... How happy can a soul get? Our New Kawai CN4 (We have a really good Kawai performance edition back home... This is much less pricey but the touch is the same!) The Set-up For Our New Piano: ![]() For Dessert.. The Mummy Made: White Fungus, Red Date, Ginseng & Rock Sugar Dessert (Yummy!) ![]() A Spicy, Hot & Sour Lunch the next day...(drools right about now...) The Mummy Cooked: Mee-Siam (It was sooo good - I learnt how to make it!) ![]() Now...Can you guess what this two little things hold? ![]() Yes...YES! The Mummy Made Her Very Own: Sambal Ikan Bilis with Roasted Peanuts. And Dried Shrimp Sambal OMG! (We miss her cooking already!) ![]() She made a big batch for us... Our Sambal Ikan Bilis Stash ![]() Another Dinner... The Mummy Cooked: Asyam Fish (Insert more drooling action here) ![]() Dinner the next night... We have been craving for a good sweet & sour fish... The Mummy Cooked: Barramundi And Dory Sweet & Sour Fish Spicy Dried Shrimp Sambal French Bean with Minced Pork I really dislike sweet & sour fish where it's like more batter then fish, and the fish.. is it really fish? And the sweet & sour sauce is very important.. I dislike those sticky bright red gooey time which is often too over powering and 'fake'. So I made my own sweet & sour sauce to go with it. It was very welcomed by the family. Both types of fish were lightly coated in corn flour and shallow fried. Strawberries & Cherries Platter(Not shown)and just had a nice family chat. ![]() My Parents and I went out earlier that day to get Jun's cake while she was at work... We bought: Charlotte Royale From Shingles Inn. We miss them so much! The Next Morning... we woke up and felt a little weird without them... So.. For Breakfast, I cooked...
